Photographs by local artists Shirley Nannini and Candace Wark’s will be on display at Buffalo Grove High School’s One Grove Gallery. The Opening Reception will take place on Saturday April 13, from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm and is open to the general public, free of charge.
Candace and Shirley came together in a collaboration stemming from a student project that evolved into an intriguing art form that neither anticipated. Through inquiry, they explore the idea of the dynamic nature of patterns in their ability to evolve and move. The photographs capture a moment of time in wind and light producing a one of a kind image that dances across the canvas. To create these memorizing photographs Candace and Shirley use a wind tunnel and light to convey the transient nature of wind.
“We introduce smoke into a wind tunnel and allow it to flow over various objects. As the wind and smoke interact, the intrinsic laws of nature produce extraordinary patterns in the wake created behind the objects. “Ethereal” and “organic” are words others have used to describe the abstract yet naturally occurring patterns we have captured. Our photographs seek to draw the viewers into an evolving, dynamic view of nature and art in the creation of beauty.”
From this collaboration Shirley and Candace formed in 2012 Wind Flow Photography. Since that time their photographs have shown in over 50 group, gallery, museum, and solo shows throughout the United States.
Shirley will also be available for questions, and discussion, in the gallery the evening of BGHS Chorus Line on Saturday April 13 from 6:00 pm until the show start time of 7:00 pm.
The gallery show will continue through April 23rd.
