Midwest photographer Nelson Armour will be showcasing his photographs at Buffalo Grove High School's One Grove Gallery. The exhibit is set to open on March 22, and remain open just over a month through April 26.
Additionally, Mr. Armour has provided his artistic services to the youth of Buffalo Grove High School. First, Mr. Armour offered a speaking engagement to photography students, offering words of advice and encouragement. Mr. Armour is also acting as a judge in the District 214 Arts Unlimited Photo Show, on display in the school’s library through mid-March. This show featured over 180 student photographs from all of the District 214 schools.
Photography has been Mr. Armour’s life-long practice and passion. He has had an extensive career, including as an educator. He holds a doctorate in educational psychology (Loyola University of Chicago), a masters in teaching (Harvard Graduate School of Education), and a bachelors in history (University of Wisconsin), and was a principal and a school superintendent.
He states, “As a teacher, my photography was integral to my classroom. On family camping and backpacking trips out west (U.S. and Canada), my tripod and equipment accompanied me on long mountain hikes. On a yearlong trip around the world, I photographed relentlessly.”
Mr. Armour’s work spans various genres. He states that landscapes, both real and altered, have captivated him.

A variety of Mr. Armour’s photos will be on display in One Grove Gallery. The show is free and available to the community. Be sure to visit the exhibit between March 22-April 26 to experience his influence and artistry.
