NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Attention Juniors and Seniors:   Emily Carnes, a 2016 Buffalo Grove High School Alumni, will be visiting on Tuesday, January 10th during 6th period in the College Career Center.  She is a university ambassador for Washington University in St. Louis.  She will be sharing information about Washington University and her experiences.  Pick up a pass in the College Career Center if you want to meet with her and learn more about Washington University.
  2. Attention student filmmakers:  Walk the red carpet and win cash and prizes!  If you are a high school student and make movies in any category of video production, from narrative films to documentaries, music videos to animation, submit to the 2017 CinéStudent Film Festival hosted by the Elk Grove High School Film Club.  This annual film festival is dedicated to honoring the creativity of student filmmakers in digital media and providing them with the means and substance to pursue a career in film.  The deadline to submit is February 20.   3. The Teacher Intern Program and Dual Credit Program will be receiving completed applications until Thursday, January 12. If you requested an application during registration period and you have not turned it in to your counselor, please do it on or before January 12. Please contact Mrs. Lutz if you have any questions about either program.
  4. There will be an open gym for Boys Gymnastics on Thursday, January 12th after school in the Gymnastics Balcony.  All are welcome.

ON GOING ANNOUNCEMENTS 

  1. If you took the PSAT Exam in October - don’t forget to pick up your score report.  Those PSAT scores are gathering dust in The Assessment Center.  Help keep the Assessment Center’s office clean and your parents happy – pick up your PSAT score today!
  2. Attention Seniors Class of 2017:  Some colleges require 7th semester grades and a Midyear Report in order to make an admission decision.  It is your responsibility to request  this information and tell us which schools to send them to.  Generally, Common Application colleges (but not all), require a Midyear Report, so you will need to check the requirements for each college.  Some colleges may also send you  an email or letter requesting  a 7th semester transcript.  Please come to the College Career Center to complete the 7th semester Transcript/Midyear Report Request that will allow us to submit this information as soon as first semester grades are available.
  3. All Juniors will take a practice SAT on January 30th, 2017. Bring your ID, sharpened #2 pencils with erasers, calculator, and iPad.  Please make sure to have your ipad updated and charged.  After completing the practice test students will be released to complete their afternoon classes.  If you have 4th or 5th period lunch, you will go to lunch.  If they have 6th period lunch, you will go to your 5th period class, then have 6th hour lunch.

Our next Saturday School of the semester is this Saturday, January 14th.  This is a great opportunity to access the BG staff, NHS tutors and resources to help get your grades up.  Bring a friend and study - if you have a question, we can help!   Saturday School runs from 8:30 to 11:00 am in the BGHS library.  Please use Entrance #1 by the Theater.   Also this week, you will have the opportunity to make up 2 PE classes for any days you missed.   See your teacher if you would like to have work or make-up tests left for you.  Any questions?  Contact your teacher, counselor, Mr. Linhart, or Mrs. Raucci.
  2. Attention all DECA members:   Our next meeting is this Wednesday, January 11th.  This is a MANDATORY meeting for all members as we will discuss Regional Competition details. You can attend either the 7:00am meeting or the 3:00pm meeting.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Zaba or Mrs. Roberts.

WEDNESDAY  1/11/17

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Have you ever watched shows like Law & Order, Criminal Minds, or Bones and imagined you are the detective solving the case?  Do you want to learn more about how to become a detective and what a workday looks like?  If so, Ms. Gil,Career Advisor will be taking students on Thursday February 16 to Fremd High School to learn about careers in this field.  There will be a panel featuring a forensic chemist, forensic detective, and forensic psychologist. 
  2. If you are interested, you can pick up and drop off permission forms found in the College and Career Center.  Forms are due no later than Wednesday February 15.  For an electronic permission form please email ziomara.gil@d214.org.
  3. Check your locker and house for overdue library materials.   All overdues must be cleared up before final exams.
  4. The MSL CoEd cheerleading title is up for grabs!  Come out and support the CoEd cheerleaders this Thursday at 6 pm as they defend their conference title.  The competition is being held at Hersey High School and admission is only $2.  Wear orange and be loud!

  1. Congrats to the Girls Bowling team who put a whoopin' on state ranked Hoffman Estates High School last night beating them 7 to 2.  Jennifer Sauer led the way with a 278.  Jessica Soskich rolled a near perfect 269 game.   The JV teams also beat 1st placed Hoffman Estates 9 - 0.  Way to go Bison Bowling!
  2. Attention Wrestling Fans:  Your Buffalo Grove Wrestling program is hosting a "Future Bison Dual" between Cooper and London middle schools.  The event is at 4:30 pm tomorrow, Friday, January 13, in the Main Gym before our dual with Rolling Meadows. We would love for you to come out and support your former middle school, and us, and show these Future Bison just what it's like to FIGHT ON!

FRIDAY  1/13/17

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. During exam periods, the Library will be open for silent study and for the completion of assignments requiring the use of Library materials.  The Library will be open for students until 11:30 on exam days.
  2. Special bus schedule during Final Exam Days:  Buses will leave at 11:50 on Wednesday, January 18 and Thursday, January 19.  There will be NO Activity buses those days.  The Athletic buses will run at 2:00 on the 18th and 19th.  On Friday, January 20, the regular buses will leave at 10:25.  There will be Activity buses at 11:50 and Athletic buses at 1:00 on Friday, January 20.  Good Luck on your Finals!
