NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Attention Class of 2017:   If you are an Arlington Heights resident, you are eligible to apply for the Arlington Heights Festival Scholarship.   Six scholarships will be awarded:  1st place = $1,500 & 2nd place = $1,000 scholarships are available in three categories:   Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Volunteer Service.  The Arlington Heights Festival Scholarship application can be picked up in the College and Career Center and can be downloaded from Naviance!  Deadline is June 13, 2017.
  2. Celebrate Earth Day with an air scented bookmark from the Library.

ON GOING ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. CoEd Cheerleading tryouts will take place on May 3 and 4 from 6-8pm in the Fieldhouse.  Come join the winning tradition!  Tryouts are open to any interested girls and guys, no experience required.  Be sure to pickup and fill out a tryout packet from the main office.  If you have any questions contact Mr. Siegal, Ms. O'Donnell, or Mr. Hansen.
  2. Applications are now open to become a Bison Advisory Mentor for next year.  This is an amazing club is fun, helpful, and looks great on college applications.  It requires very little of your time, and is a great way to give back to the BGHS community.  Please apply at www.tinyurl.com/ApplyForBAM, and see Mr. Linhart for more information.
  3. There will be clinics to try-out for Poms today from 5-7 pm and tomorrow from 6-8:30 pm in the Cafeteria.  Tryouts will be on Thursday, April 27 starting at 4:45 pm.
  4. This year's Senior Day  is Thursday June 1.  Tickets  will be on sale during all lunch hours Tuesday through Thursday.  The cost per ticket is $20.00.  This year's outing will be to Dave and Busters.  Make sure to bring your $20.00 and buy your tickets next week.  All seniors who wish to participate must buy a ticket.

  1. Congratulations to the NJROTC Orienteering team and senior Dennis Grossman and team captain Ian Yambao for their 1st place finish at he East Aurora Orienteering meet on Saturday.  The team beat out five other schools for 1st place honors.

  1. Congratulations to the Varsity Badminton team who wrapped up the MSL East Division Title Tuesday night beating Elk Grove 15-0.  The Croc Squad is 5 - 0 in the division and head to Schaumburg with a 7-0 record in Conference Play.   A special Congrats to our Seniors Megan Gamber, Katie Jarosz and Gabby Yordanova who celebrated Senior Night with a perfect 6-0 record.  Knucks Up Bison Badminton!
  2.   3. This Friday is the Day of Silence, a nationwide event to raise awareness of the silencing effect of anti-LGBTQ bullying, harassment, and discrimination.  Stop by the GSA table in the Cafeteria to learn more and get a ribbon to show your support for your LGBTQ allies.

  5. For the month of April and into May, the Art Gallery Committee has put together a show in honor of the Red My Lips Movement.  Participants will take part in a thirty day challenge, where they wear red lipstick every day to show support for sexual assault victims and take a stand again victim blaming. Take the pledge with them and stop by the gallery to see all the volunteers who participated in the challenge along with some related art.
  6. Join the Environmental Club and your fellow students in celebrating Earth Day.  Earth Day is a tradition of spreading awareness for many of the environmental issues that our society faces every day, such as global climate change, deforestation, loss of species, and the use of products that are not Earth-friendly.  Earth Day shirts will be on sale in the Cafeteria during all lunch periods today and tomorrow. They will be $10 and will include an awesome BG vinyl sticker to put on your reusable water bottles.  Earth Day shirts will now be worn on Monday of next week to celebrate Earth Day.
  2. Ou​r next​ Saturday School of the semester is this Saturday April 22.  This is a great opportunity to access the BG staff and resources to help bring your grades up.  Bring a friend and study.  If you have a question, we can help.   And this week...we are going to be running Saturday School in the Academic Area in the Sophomore locker hallways.  Come get some extra help while enjoying the comfy furniture and natural sunlight!  Saturday School runs from 8:30 to 11:00 am.  Please use Entrance #1 by the Theater.  See your teacher if you would like to have work or make-up tests left for you.  Any questions?  Contact your teacher, counselor, Mrs. Raucci, or Mr. Linhart. 
  3. Attention Seniors:  Packets for this years Senior Teach Day are available this week only in the Main Office.  Pick yours up and turn it in ASAP.  See Mr. Siegal if you have any questions.
  4. Do you like Spam? Do you like Arthurian Legend? Either way, this Musical is for you.  Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur's quest to find the Holy Grail.  Inspired by the classic comedy film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical runs today through Saturday.  All shows start at 7pm.  Tickets are on sale NOW!   5. Seniors:  There is a scholarship being offered by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department in the amount of $1,000.  Applicants must be a senior at Buffalo Grove High School who has participated in community service and has a seven semester GPA of 3.5 or better.  Stop by the College Career Center and pick up an application for this worthwhile scholarship.  Application deadline is Monday, April 24 at 3:00 PM.
