NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. The BGPA scholarship application is available in the College and Career Center and on Naviance.  ALL BG class of 2017 seniors are eligible.  There is no minimum GPA requirement.  Applications are due no later than April 4.
  2. Can you believe we're planning for next school year already?  Students - it's your opportunity to get involved in student government.  Applications for Student Council representatives and Class Board representatives are available today in the Main Office.  Pick up a packet and become a member of these groups and share your ideas on how to keep BG great!  We need you!  Pick up an application today.  Completed applications are due April 7.
  3. Driver Education for Summer School begins April 4.  See Mrs. Pelegris in Room C109 in the CTE Division Office for details.  You must have your payment of $350 and all materials needed for the class will be given at the time of payment.
  4. Do you like Spam? Do you like Arthurian Legend? Either way, this Musical is for you.  Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur's quest to find the Holy Grail.  Inspired by the classic comedy film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical runs Friday, April 20th through Sunday, April 22nd.  All shows start at 7pm.  Tickets are on sale NOW!   1. Want to learn Braille?  Want to help one of our teachers?  Help raise awareness for the blind and the visually impaired and donate money in honor of Mrs. Silverman.  This week, we are selling chocolate covered pretzels that look like long white canes with braille attached to the pretzel bag. They will be sold after school by entrance 7 for $1.50 each.
  2. Do you want to get a jump start on your College Application Essays?  Make plans to attend the College Essay Writing Presentation on Wednesday, March 22nd during 2nd or 3rd period in the Theatre.  Presenter:  Veronica Hauad, Associate Director of Admissions, University of Chicago will talk about the common mistakes students make and how students can craft an essay that allows their unique personalities to shine through.  Passes are available in the College Career Center.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. For the month of April, the Art Gallery Committee will be putting together a show in honor of the Red My Lips Movement. Participants will take part in a thirty day challenge, where they wear red lipstick every day to show support for sexual assault victims and take a stand against victim blaming. Take the pledge with them or get your picture taken for the Gallery by visiting their booth during lunch periods today and tomorrow. The pictures will only include the students lips and we welcome models of all genders.
  2. Congratulations to the Boys Water Polo team for winning the first ever Grove Water Polo Tournament. The Boys had victories over Maine East, Maine South, Von Stuben  and an exciting come from behind win over Metea Valley to win the tournament.

A big thank you to all the students who already signed up for the Blood Drive tomorrow.   You must have your waiver signed in order to donate.  Waivers can be turned in to box in the Main Office or to Mrs. Heissel in room D205.  Please remember to eat a good breakfast and drink plenty of water prior to donating.  Don't forget to show up for your appointment time!

  1. Voting for next year's Student Council officer positions begins today.  The officer candidates will be in the CSafeteria today during all lunch hours for you to ask them questions and help you make your choice when you vote.  Stop by the tables and meet the candidates.  Share with them your ideas and become an informed voter.  Voting will begin at 1:00 today and last until Friday at 3:00.
  2. Students looking for a job should check out the job binder in the College and Career Center.  We have many new postings! Jobs include:  Summer Camp Counselor, Telemarketer at a Real Estate Agency, Warehouse worker, Intern at a Law firm, Pool Attendant, and Lifeguards.
  3. ON GOING ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Mrs. Lindbloom recently passed away after a long battle with cancer.  Her Math classes are making a video for her family, especially her two sons (Josh and Ryan), so they can see how great of a Mom and Teacher she was. The whole school is welcome to contribute their thoughts and memories.  We request anyone interested (including teachers) to submit a personal or group video to this website (http://student-upload.weebly.com). The directions are on the website.  We want as many people as possible to submit a video!
  2. The BGHS Band will be hosting it's second Color Guard clinic Satuday from 9am-12pm in the Cafeteria.  No experience necessary for this awesome and new opportunity.  Tell your friends!  Talk to Mr. Kappler for more info.
  3. Ou​r next​ Saturday School of the semester is tomorrow.  This is a great opportunity to access the BG staff and resources to help bring your grades up.  Bring a friend and study - if you have a question, we can help!  Saturday School runs from 8:30 to 11:00 am in the BGHS library.  Please use Entrance #1 by the Theater.  See your teacher if you would like to have work or make-up tests left for you.  Any questions?
