BGHS Robotics Team Goes High Tech
March 6, 2011
This years robotics team is aggressively preparing for the annual competition at John Hersey High School on March 11 - 12. To gain a competitive advantage, the team researched the implementation of an electronic gyro to stabilize steering. This research put them in contact with professional robot builder Mark Joerger from "Run Amok Robotics". Mark donated an electronic gyro to the team and worked with them to debug the wiring. This partnership provided valuable knowledge regarding electronic gyro's used to stabilize helicopters and airplanes during flight. This same technology can also be used to stabilize the steering of 2 wheel robots during competition. Mark consulted with his network of professional robot builders to help us with our project. The picture displayed with this article shows one of this years robots that will be using the newly implemented gyro technology.
Partnerships like this provide the students of Buffalo Grove High School with the competitive advantage needed in todays high tech world.
