Very First Freshman Triathlon to Be Held at Buffalo Grove High School

The Physical Education department of Buffalo Grove High School will host its very first Freshman Triathlon on Friday, May 22, held every hour throughout the eight-period school day. Two BGHS Photography Students Exhibit Their Work at Evanston's Perspectives Gallery

Two photography students at Buffalo Grove High School, junior Brenda Hogan and sophomore Joanna Biagi, were selected to have their work exhibited at the Perspectives Gallery in downtown Evanston, located at 1310-1/2B Chicago Avenue. Biagi has one photograph in the show and Hogan has two. Northwestern University Honors Buffalo Grove's Elizabeth Bennett as Distinguished Secondary Teacher of Year

Elizabeth Bennett, Director of Orchestras at Buffalo Grove High School, will be recognized at Northwestern University's honors ceremony on June 18 and commencement on June 19 as one of five high school educators to receive the fifth annual Distinguished Secondary Teacher Award. Buffalo Grove's Beloved "Buck the Therapy Dog" Has Legions of Fans and Twitter Followers

A gentle boxer-mix therapy dog, "Buck," has been on duty at Buffalo Grove High School full-time since April 7, dispensing face-licks, tail wags, and loving "pressure" lean-ins with his body to students and staff, alike.  Not only does he have legions of fans who greet him every day with a pat, hug, or high-five, but Buck also commands an amazing—as of this writing—477 Twitter followers, with numbers growing each day! When he's on duty, Buck wears a service vest to indicate he's "working." Buffalo Grove's Ami Relf Selected by National Endowment for Humanities as Summer Scholar in Oaxaca, Mexico

Ami Relf, English teacher at Buffalo Grove High School, has again been selected as a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) "Summer Scholar" from a applicant pool of over 240 teachers across the country to attend one of 25 seminars and institutes supported by the NEH. The Endowment is a federal agency that, each summer, supports these enrichment opportunities at colleges, universities, and cultural institutions so that teachers can study with experts in humanities disciplines. Buffalo Grove’s Francesca Pecoraro Named 2015 Illinois School Counselor of Year
