Buffalo Grove Garners Multiple Awards in Harper College High School Writing Competition
Creative writers from Buffalo Grove High School claimed several writing awards in the Harper College High School Writing Competition this year, as reported by BGHS creative writing teacher, Kate Glass. All together, Buffalo Grove captured 11 awards in this year’s contest, the highest number a District 214 school has received in the competition.

Buffalo Grove Teacher Ami Relf Receives National Award to Study African American Political History
Ami Relf, English teacher at Buffalo Grove High School, was recently selected from a national applicant pool as one of 25 National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Scholars who will attend The HistoryMakers’ 2012 NEH Summer Institute on African American Political History: From Reconstruction to the Present. Jazz Band Concert Takes the Buffalo Grove Stage
The Jazz Bands of Buffalo Grove High School will present their end-of-the-year concert on Tuesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in the school theater.
Jazz Band 2, under the direction of Allissa Carter and assisted by Illinois State University student teacher, Amy Vasel, and University of Illinois student teacher, Andrew Jacobi, will open the concert. This ensemble is comprised mostly of younger musicians who have worked all year toward this final performance.
